Moïra is Parisian. After singing since she started talking, she went to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts to really know if she could engage totally in music. Since her return from this renowned school of jazz, Moïra has produced a large quantity of work in duets, trios and quartets.
In 1998, she met the pianist Bruno Angelini and the double bass player Alexandre Hiele. This collaboration has allowed her to enrich her interpretations. All three are interested in mixing the sound of jazz today with the sounds of Africa. With original compositions, they create then a “new thing” while adding to the brilliant rhythm of the kora of Yakhouba Sissokho, a griot from the Gambia; the n’goni of Moriba Koïta, playing an instrument in the same way that he accompanies the biggest singers from West Africa.
Moïra has always looked for these encounters between Africa and jazz. With the support of the percussionist Olivier Petitjean, a musician schooled in jazz, salsa and djembé, the group has launched itself in a gaudy musical intermingling.
Moira's group is:
Moïra, song, Bruno Angelini, piano, Alexandre Hiele, double bass, Moriba Koïta, n’goni, Olivier Petitjean, percussion, Yakhouba Sissokho, kora
